PROMOTION : AJPW

EVENT : Budokan Hall Show

VENUE : Budokan Hall, Tokyo

DATE : 24/01/95

CHAMPIONSHIP : AJPW Tag Team Titles

Background : The team of Kenta Kobashi and Mitsuharu Misawa go into this match as current AJPW Tag Team champions after winning the belts in the World's Strongest Tag Team League Tournament just one month prior. They would be up against familiar opponents in The Holy Demon Army (Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue) who were regular foes for the tag champs. Kawada would go into this match as AJPW Triple Crown champion and would continue his ongoing feud with Misawa who was also a former AJPW Triple Crown champion. All four of these men are in their prime in 1995 and were putting on some of the best matches in Japanese history so could this match belong in that group....

MATCH REVIEW : This match is highly regarded as one of the best in Japanese Tag Team wrestling history. All four of these men showed here why they were gaining such a high respect in the business by putting on classic after classic and this was no different. Athletically charged for a full 60 minutes, this match was nothing short of beautiful to watch. There are not a lot of hour long matches that show as much action and variety that this match does. Akira Taue & Toshiaki Kawada went on to win the Tag Titles for a second time just a few months later by beating Misawa & Kobashi in another classic match between the four.
