MATCH : Mitsuharu Misawa v Toshiaki Kawada

EVENT : Budokan Hall Show

VENUE : Budokan Hall, Tokyo

DATE : 3rd June 1994

CHAMPIONSHIP : AJPW Triple Crown Title

BACKGROUND : Mitsuharu Misawa and Toshiaki Kawada had teamed together for most of the early 90s even winning the AJPW Tag Titles on a couple of occasions. Then when Kawada joined forces with Akira Taue, the two men had one of the longest and most decorated feuds in Japanese wrestling history. Kawada had never held a pin fall victory over Misawa so this match was set up to find out who was the biggest star in Japanese wrestling! Could Kawada dethrone the legendary AJPW Triple Crown Champion?

MATCH REVIEW : The story of Kawada giving everything he could to defeat Misawa and lift the AJPW Triple Crown for the first time but coming up short was fantastic. The psychology these men possessed was amazing and really could keep you guessing who was going to come out as victor! Misawas use of the tiger driver showed he was just as desperate to hold on to the championship as Kawada was of gaining it! A great match between two legends that would go on to even greater things in All Japan!
