MATCH : Jim Duggan v Ted Dibiase

PROMOTION : Mid-South Wrestling

EVENT : Houston Live Event

VENUE : Houston, Texas

DATE : 22nd March 1985

STIPULATION : Coal Miner's Glove Steel Cage Tuxedo Loser Leaves Town Match

BACKGROUND : This was one of the biggest feuds in the history of Mid-South Wrestling and it all culminated when Jim Duggan, Ted Dibiase and Matt Borne were tag team partners in a faction called The Rat Pack. The Rat Pack tag team started having some internal rifts and when Dibiase agreed the team would be managed by Skandor Akbar this didn't go down well with Duggan ultimately causing the faction to break up. A long feud between Duggan and Dibiase ensued and would culminate in a Coal Miners Glove, Steel Cage, Tuxedo, Loser Leaves Town match. So could this blow off match be a great ending or was it an overbooked mess with too many stipulations?

MATCH REVIEW : This was a great bloody battle from start to finish that didn't, as I originally imagined, get swamped down by all the gimmick stipulations. This was a great end to a great feud and the crowd was hot throughout by getting behind Duggan every time he had the upper hand. Obviously both men would go on to have long careers in the WWF/E not long after this and Mid-South Wrestling would be accountable for a lot of the talent that was produced in the late 80's.
