MATCH : KENTA/Taiji Ishimori v Kota Ibushi/Naomichi Marufuji

PROMOTION : NOAH

EVENT : Summer Navigation Day 12

VENUE : Budokan Hall, Tokyo

DATE : 15th July 2007

Background : This was the deciding match of the Nippon TV Cup which was a Tag Team League for the Junior Heavyweight division in Pro Wrestling NOAH. Ibushi and Marufuji had been very impressive as a team throughout the tournament which involved six teams altogether from Japan and America. Ibushi was at the receiving a lot of praise for his aerial talents and would be able to showcase them again in this match whilst the fans would also get to see KENTA v Marufuji in the ring together again if all went to plan. Both KENTA and Marufuji were former GHC Junior Heavyweight Champions but had also shared a GHC Tag Team Championship reign together in a run that lasted almost two years so they had a history.

MATCH REVIEW : This was 20 minutes or so of pure wrestling. Ibushi proved in this match just what a great young talent he was by trading some great aerial stunts with Ishimori whilst also going toe to toe with the veteran KENTA. Unfortunately for Ibushi, experience overcame everything when KENTA would win the match with a Go2Sleep. This is one of the best tag team matches in NOAH history and a worthwhile induction into the Wrestling Match Hall of Fame. The crowd ate up every second of this match and so they should as all four of these men showed to entertain by displaying a wrestling clinic.
