PROMOTION : NOAH

EVENT : Navigation Against the Current Day 3

VENUE : Budokan Hall, Tokyo

DATE : 1st November 2003

CHAMPIONSHIP : GHC Junior Tag Team Titles

BACKGROUND : KENTA and Naomichi Marufuji were the two brightest young stars in Japanese wrestling in 2003 and had defeated all comers as GHC Junior Tag Champs over the last six months. They became the first holders of these titles when they won a prestigious tournament by defeating legendary Japanese stars Jushin Thunder Liger & Takehiro Murahama but on this day they would be up against a different kind of legend. Juventud Guerrera and Ricky Marvin were better known for their Mexican Lucha Libre style so it would be interesting to see how these four men would mesh in the ring.

MATCH REVIEW : All four of these men worked incredibly well with each other and made this one of the best tag team matches in the last decade. The lack of ring psychology in this match was made up with some incredible high spots that are normally associated with Lucha Libre stars. What separates this match with a lot of other great matches is the red hot crowd. If a crowd is really into something as much as this crowd was then not on do the wrestlers feed off it but it makes the match look even better on TV. This is a real fun match to watch and has a beautiful flow to it which matches with so many spots like this one has usually lack. Marufuji and KENTA went on to hold the Jr. Heavyweight Tag Titles for another 18 months after this match and solidified themselves as great talent in Japanese wrestling history.
