MATCH : Barry Windham/Larry Zbysko/Ric Flair/Sid v Brian Pillman/Steiner Brothers/Sting

EVENT : WrestleWar 91

VENUE : Phoenix, Arizona

DATE : 24th February 1991

STIPULATION : War Games Match

BACKGROUND : Ric Flair had been feuding with Sting for quite a while going into this match so it made sense for these two men to lead teams into the WarGames match. Ric Flair called upon his reliable Four Horsemen stable but unfortunately an injury to Arn Anderson meant he had to be substituted for Larry Zbysko. Sting picked The Steiner Brothers, who also had been having troubles recently with the Horsemen, and ultimate baby face Brian Pillman. Pillman went into the match sporting a taped shoulder due to a vicious attack from the heel team at a recent TV taping. So could Sting and his team of heroes get much needed revenge on The Four Horsemen?

MATCH REVIEW : This was a very good multi man match with a lot of great action throughout. If this match had a better ending which was spoilt by El Gigante throwing in the towel then this could have been one of the top 3 matches in WCW history. The usual great performances from some of the mainstays of the early 90's made this a must watch match but most people tend to watch it just to see Sid's sick powerbomb on Pillman. Fortunately, Pillman wasn't hurt after landing on his neck thanks to Sid's recklessness. A very good match with lots of drama, blood and excitement which shows how excellent stipulation matches such as this can be utilised as no man came out of that match looking weaker than before.
