MATCH : Team Raw v Team Smackdown

EVENT : Survivor Series 2005

VENUE : Joe Lewis Arena, Detroit, Michigan

DATE : 27th November 2005

STIPULATION : 10 Man Elimination Match

BACKGROUND : Rather than having two wrestlers feuding going into the Survivor Series PPV this had the Smackdown brand feuding with the Raw brand. The two General Managers of the brands, Eric Bischoff and Teddy Long, had been trying to ruin each other's show for a while so a decision was made to have a 5 v 5 elimination match to settle things. The Smackdown team was supposed to consist of captain Batista, JBL, Rey Mysterio, Bobby Lashley and Eddie Guerrero but Eddie's unfortunate passing meant that Randy Orton stood in on his behalf. The Raw team consisted of captain Shawn Michaels, Kane, Chris Masters, Carlito and Big Show. So which brand would come out on top?

MATCH REVIEW : Although there isn't much at stake except bragging rights the match has a must win feel from both sides. The booking was aimed at keeping Orton as strong as possible and he was the right choice to be sole survivor. Overall a great elimination match that delivered good booking for all the 9 eliminations, even if some of them came a little close together. Was also fun to hear the commentary teams from both brands bicker a bit with each other.
