MATCH : Team Hart Foundation v Team Strike Force

EVENT : Survivor Series 1987

VENUE : Richfield Coliseum, Ohio

DATE : 26th November 1987

STIPULATION : 20 Man Tag Match

BACKGROUND : This match seen 5 of the best face tag teams in the WWF at the time take on 5 of the best heel tag teams. The captains of the face team were the current Tag Team Champions Strike Force along with Killer Bees, Young Stallions, Rougeau Brothers and British Bulldogs. The heel team was captained by The Hart Foundation who had only recently lost the Tag straps and they were joined by The Bolsheviks, Demolition, The Islanders and The New Dream Team. This would be the very first of many Survivor Series PPV's and the rules would state that when one member of a tag team was pinned his partner would also be eliminated.

MATCH REVIEW : This was such a terrific era for tag team wrestling that WWF alone was able to put on a match involving 10 great teams. There is no way the WWE would be able to put on a match like this today. This match was incredibly fresh because very few people had seen a 20 man tag match but rather than being too thrown together like most would imagine, the pace of the match was excellent. A very fun bout that would be repeated at the following years Survivor Series with similar results. Another positive from the match was the surprise ending with the two surviving teams being outsiders as such.
