MATCH : Bret Hart v Owen Hart

EVENT : Wrestlemania X

VENUE : Madison Square Garden, New York

DATE : 20/03/1994

Background : This match started one of the greatest feuds in professional wrestling history. It was a simple concept between two brothers - one was a former World Champion, Intercontinental Champion, Tag Team Champion and King of the Ring winner whilst the other was jealous. Bret Hart was loved and adored by the fans and his younger brother Owen wanted to prove he could step out of his shadow by beating him at the biggest event of the year. This match would open Wrestlemania as Bret would have to wrestle again later on in the event against either Yokozuna or Lex Luger for the WWF World Title due to co-winning the Royal Rumble a few months prior.

MATCH REVIEW : I would argue with anyone all night who claims to have seen a better opening match this one. As a matter of fact I would struggle to name many matches ever in the history of professional wrestling that could match this. Before the bell had rung you could feel the emotion and intensity in the ring and you can just tell that the match was going to be a classic. The Hart Family are known as some of the best technical wrestlers in the business so it's not a surprise to see both brothers trying to out mat-wrestle each other. If I had to give one word to describe this match it would be - flawless! Every move in the match was crisp and the pacing perfect with great chemistry between the brothers. I could watch this match every day for the rest of my life and still not get bored. To make things better these two men would clash again in 1994 in a steel cage match which was also amazing to watch!
